Wednesday, December 8, 2010
Here is a picture of how I looked the fateful night that I mentioned in my last post. Hopefully the next time I blog, I'll have a much better story to tell. I highly doubt I'll be on here for awhile.... probably not till after the program! It's tomorrow night!!! AHHH..... then on Friday night as well. On Friday night, Sam's family is coming in, and they are bringing a gal with them from Sam's home church who is going to be staying with me. What fun!! We will be cramming 13 or so people into my home for Sunday lunch! It will be so much fun!! I can't wait. I love his parents! and I love hosting get-to-gethers, so it'll be a blast!!!!

Christmas Program!!
Soo... we took the UBC drama on the road on Sunday night. First of all... how many of you have ever acted in a drama on a big stage, then suddenly had to change everything that you've been doing and format it for a church platform? It's a little tough, add to that the fact that one of the main characters is sick... Ahhh!!! It was quite interesting. Because I cowrote the drama, and I am the director, I was the only one who knew the drama well enough to step into her part. Thankfully, I did get to practice with them on Thursday, but.... There were some interesting problems. We had not practiced with mikes, in fact we never got to practice with mikes. So we had to remember when to turn them off... That didn't always happen :) Then I had to trade mikes with one of the cast members, so because I was so concentrating on trading mikes, I totally forgot that I needed to be in the next scene, therefore, I was up on stage, no mike.... no coat.... no purse.... and went 'outside' after screaming my line :) Then, a few scenes later, when I had to get the mike back, I was concentrating on that, and on screaming my line again.... that I lost my shoe running up the platform stairs. After all the laughter, I convinced Willy to get my shoe, put it on and sat down ready for the final scene. Then.... the narrator was so thrown off kilter by my little mishap, that it messed him up, and he paused too long, so... my main character, burst in in the middle of the narration and said.... "Let's sing some Christmas Carols".... the narrator walked offstage, and all we sang was... "And Heaven and Heaven and Nature Sing." This made the congregation laugh, because while that was in the script, it didn't exactly fit what he said... we are supposed to sing another one, and while we started that one, I knew that the person who is supposed to come in at the ending had to run all the way around the side of the church... and I was praying the whole time I was singing that he would make it... He did, but.... when Willy went running across the stage and hugged him.... a few of the ribbons attached to his uniform fell off... and his mike fell off.... and over the sound system you hear this little voice say "Whoopsie". The crowd lost it. It was supposed to be this sentimental moment, and everybody is dying laughing. Oh well... such is drama!!!
